Collective Espresso, Camberwell

@food.fiend.melbourne

It was super chilly this morning, but nothing stops me from exploring new brunch venues! I went to my first Saturday Morning Yoga sessions and had a blast - it was tricky, but very rewarding.

We decided to visit Collective Espresso in Camberwell for lunch. A tiny venue, directly opposite Camberwell Train Station, on one of the side streets, this fairly new cafe offers an intimate place for brunch dates. The inside was full, so we sat on one of the outside tables. I hadn't bought a jacket with me because I was trying to rock my new Sweater Club jumper, but the staff quickly came and offered us blankets to wear while we were eating, which was lovely.

Their coffee was delicious. We also ordered a chocolate fudge milkshake which was very tasty (and it was huge!)

Strong Latter

We ordered the Eggs Benny with poached eggs, crispy chipotle pork & potato hash, wilted spinach, apple & herb salad, hollandaise ($18.50)

Eggs Benny $18.50

and the Charred Corn Mac n Cheese with melted mozzarella, sweet corn, parmesan and smoked paprika crisps ($16.50)

Charred Corn Mac n Cheese $16.50

The Mac n Cheese was delicious - the paprika on top added a nice additional flavour and the parmesan crisps were excellent. The serving size was also decent. The Eggs Benny was a bit of a disappointment for me. It was plated beautifully, but the rosti was overcooked and had the consistency of a pre-packaged tuna patty. The flavours were a bit overwhelming and I didn't really enjoy it. The eggs were poached perfectly though.

The customer service was excellent - the staff were super friendly, the food came out quickly, despite being busy & the blankets were an awesome thought for chillier days. I would definitely come back, but I look forward to trying other things on the menu :)
