Short Straw is such a gorgeous venue! It's on a side street off Glenferrie Rd in Hawthorn and is full of natural light, pale coloured furniture & greenery - stunning :)

We went here for a very late brunch on Saturday and were not disappointed. The place was pumping, but there was no queue, which is often a relief when brunching in Melbourne these days.
We ordered two serves of the poached chicken & avocado "New York style bagels", that came with a side of fries ($14.50) and shared a serve of the Brioche French Toast topped with vanilla cream, poached pear, caramelised banana & Persian fairy floss ($18.50? no longer on menu).

The food was absolutely delicious and the serving sizes were very generous. The bagel was stuffed to the brim with fillings and I'm glad that we shared the desert dish. The coffee and fresh OJ that we ordered also went down a treat.
The staff were very friendly and worked really well as a team. While we were eating, one of the staff sat down to eat her lunch and one of her colleagues had written her a note on a napkin - so cute!
Definitely worth a visit when you have the time - everything on the menu looks great, but these dishes are definitely a must try!
