Temperance Society has been on my list for while now, so we finally made the trek to Hughesdale on Saturday. It is owned by the same crew that run Penta, Tinker & Age of Sail.
We arrived just before they got super busy at 10am and still had to wait 5 minutes for a table in their rear courtyard. They were pretty efficient in clearing a table for us though and took our drink orders while we waited.

The venue is smaller that it looks. There are a handful of tables inside and then about 15 tables out the back in a courtyard that has excellent heaters for wintery days.
We ordered our food quite quickly (love a cheeky menu stalk before visiting a new place) and it came out about 20 minutes later. We ordered the Brûlée Bircher muesli that came topped with watermelon jerky ($15 - very decent) and the "Bit of this, bit of that" Brekky Board that had a croissant with butter (no jam), mini OJ, mini Acai bowl & avo toast with a poached egg ($20).

Everything tasted absolutely fantastic! The Brulee Bircher was outstanding - the torched toffee on the top, great amount of toppings and the watermelon jerky was delicious! I was hesitant at first, but was not disappointed.

The Breakfast Board was equally as impressive. The only disappointment was the lack of jam to go on the croissant. The butter looked like an after thought. The avocado was plentiful, the egg was poached perfectly and the Acai bowl had a nice flavour. The little OJ was also tasty - very sweet.

I had a fantastic meal at a great venue, but my friend ate there the same day and waited an hour for food that never came. She said that she'd been there before and loved the food, but found the staff to be a bit standoffish after she complained about them losing her order.
Would highly recommend Temperance Society for delicious food in a suburb that isn't overrun by brunch spots.
