Fourth Chapter, Prahran

School holidays are finally here, which means an extra 14 opportunities for brunch dates - woohoo! I met up with 2 mates this morning and we ventured all the way out to Prahran to visit Fourth Chapter on High St.

The venue was way smaller than I anticipated and I was worried about having to sit outside (despite there being blankets available), but a table soon cleared and we were moved indoors. We were a table of 3 and were seated on a very small table in the back corner near the kitchen. This wasn't a problem, until our food arrived, and we were left negotiating our space, sculling our water and giving the waitress our coffee saucers, just to make room for plates. All of the tables are a similar size, except for one large, round table in the middle of the space, which seemed to be for either large groups or communal dining.

We started with some large coffees, and boy were they large! Loved it! They came in huge glasses and tasted great.

We then ordered food - we'd been doing a cheeky Insta stalk before our visit, so it didn't take us long. We had the Raspberry Granola w coconut pannacotta ($15), the Southern Fried Chicken Bao (3 pieces for $21) & two serves of the Big Brekky w eggs, avocado, mushies, bacon, waffle rosti & Saganaki ($23.50).

When you order so much food, that you run out of table space!

The Raspberry Granola was absolutely outstanding - the granola was nice and chewy, the coconut pannacotta passed the wobble test and it was all topped with freeze dried strawberries and watermelon jerky (apparently this is the new "it" brekky topper?). Loved everything about it and the serving was the perfect size.

The Southern Fried Chicken Bao were what I was looking forward to the most. They were so delicious! The right amount of zest in the sauce, tasty batter & nice soft bao buns. We had one each and that was the perfect amount. I highly recommend trying these if you visit.

Both of my friends had the Big Brekky, one with poached, one with scrambled. One said it was possibly the best breakfast that they'd ever had. The other kept remarking at what a generous serving it was for the price that they paid - especially the amount of bacon they received. We all agreed that it was great to see a place serving a Big Brekky that included the extras in the price instead of allowing people to build-their-own, but paying over $30 for what they want. The waffle rosti was a standout and they both said that the Saganaki was delicious.

Another very successful and positive brunching adventure! We were lucky to get a table, because we visited at 11am on a Monday morning, but I feel that Fourth Chapter would be a very popular weekend brunch spot, so make sure that you either visit during the week, or are willing to wait for a table.
