Prospect Espresso, Camberwell

@food.fiend.melbourne

Ever since their "Insta-special" started popping up in my feed, I have been desperate to visit Prospect Espresso in Camberwell. I took two girlfriends with me for brunch and didn't even bother to look at the menu (except to take a sneaky photo). I also ordered a giant coffee, which was delicious.

The venue was gorgeous and very small. They had a surprising amount of tables in such a small space, but it didn't feel crowded. The staff were super friendly, the food came out promptly and we didn't feel rushed to leave. We visited at midday on a Tuesday, but I can imagine that this place is quite pumping on the weekends.

I ordered the Insta Waffles ($17 I think?) with bright-green poached pear, blueberry compote, fresh strawbs, white chocolate frosting, hazelnut praline & topped with Persian fairy floss. SO GOOD! A very sweet brekky, but totally worth. This is available until the end of July, so make sure that you get your hands on it ASAP.

My friend ordered the "Smash & Go" smashed avo ($15.50) that was beautifully presented, but maybe had too many decorative herbs on top. It came topped with a plentiful amount of goat cheese curd, pomegranate seeds and fresh lime.

My other friend had eaten early in the day, so just had a muffin (not pictured). She was not given a flavour choice, but the muffin was huge. She said it was sweet, but could not tell which flavour it was - maybe raspberry & white chocolate? Either way, it was yum - yay for mystery muffins!

A very quaint little cafe, with great coffee, friendly atmosphere & decently priced food. It will definitely grow in popularity as the Camberwell cafe scene grows, so make time to visit ASAP.
