Haytch Cafe, Thornbury

Haytch Cafe is a fairly new cafe on High St in Thornbury. It is owned by couple, Harry and Helen (hence the name "Haytch"), who are some of the nicest, friendliest owners that I've met in a long time. It is so important in such a competitive environment to have standout customer service, and these guys did just that. They came to chat with us and made sure that we were well looked after for the duration of our visit.

The decor is modern and the whole shop front is french, glass doors that can open to let in the sunshine during warmer days. There is an absolutely stunning mural on the back wall and a glass cabinet full of delicious looking baked goods near the coffee machine. There is not a lot of outdoor seating, but there are about 8 tables inside.

We had a veritable feast this afternoon as we were 8 of Melbourne's foodies all at one table - the photos were out of control! We all ordered one dish each and then a few extras to share. I had the pleasure of enjoying my meal with @melbourne.foodies, @brunchingbae, @bitsofbites. @_bitemykitchen, @breakfastsnobs, @hektikeats & @rb_eats.

I ordered the granola with vanilla panna cotta & the french toast. The granola is probably one of the best that I've had in a long while. The panna cotta was down the bottom with layers of granola, greek yoghurt, fresh berries & topped with persian fairy floss. It was so tasty that I ate it super quickly and filled up before I could have a decent go at the french toast. I tried it anyway, but it needed something creamy as a topping, in addition to the maple syrup and berries.

The other meals on the table were the ricotta hot cakes (which 2 people had - both were raving), the smashed avocado (could have done with a more generous serving of avo), the chilli scrambled eggs (demolished), both the beef & chicken burgers and the porridge. Everything looked absolutely stunning and no plates were left with food on them. The serving sizes were generous and (most of) the toppings were in abundance. The coffee was also nice and the table water was constantly being refilled.

- Granola: $16.90

The customer service & presentation/taste of each dish at Haytch Cafe is exceptional & I couldn't recommend it more. I look forward to returning to try the porridge and some of the delicious, homemade baked goods. Thanks SO much for having us, Harry & Helen :)
