Medah Kitchen, Westfield Knox

@food.fiend.melbourne

We had a delightful visit to Medah Kitchen in Knox this week as Melbourne turned on the sunshine for the first time in ages. We took advantage of the sunny weather and sat outside, where it was still quiet and calm in the food district of Knox Ozone. The whole strip started pumping the longer we sat there though, as there are a lot of great foodie places condensed into one area.

Hot Chocolate

Medah Kitchen is a Mediterranean style restaurant that boasts a generous menu for all times of the day, from brunch to dessert. As we were visiting at 11am, we ordered items from the brunch menu, but were very tempted by the tapas dishes on the lunch menu. The meat platter sounded very inviting, but we didn't want to feel too weighed down before our visit to the 1000 steps later in the day.

We ordered drinks in abundance, starting with coffees, hot chocolates & then followed them up with 2 of their smoothies - all were delicious and very nicely presented. The smoothies were nice & rich in flavour and not too big when accompanying a meal. We had the Green Smoothie & the Mixed Berry.

Mixed Berry & Kale/Ginger Smoothies

Our dishes on the other hand, had very generous serving sizes! All plates came packed with fresh ingredients that complimented everything else on the plate.

I had the "Protein packed avocado on toast" ($17.50), served on multigrain bread with 2 poached eggs, avocado, goats cheese, seeds & snow pea shoots. The bread slices were huge and I only ate one of them. The serving of goats cheese was huge and the 2 eggs made the dish very filling.

My friend ordered the "Pulled pork Benedict" ($18.50) and absolutely loved it. He said all of the flavours blended together nicely and it was very photogenic. I wasn't sure about the hollandaise working with the chilli slaw and the lime and coriander dressing, but it smelt amazing! He demolished it, but again, said there was too much bread (a brioche bun)

Next up, we shared the "Medah French Toast" ($17.50) which was plated up beautifully - probably the most photogenic dish that we ordered. It came topped with berries in all forms, a waffle wafer, maple syrup and a berry panna cotta, which was very rich. We were both pretty full at this stage, but this dish is great to share. I think it would be too sweet if someone were to eat the whole thing on their own.

The kitchen had added new dessert items to their menu the weekend before we came in, so the waitress was keen for us to try some. She brought out 2 for us to try - "The Rose" and "The Apple". My God they were stunning, almost too pretty to eat!

The Rose was full of mousse, jelly & encased in a beautiful red chocolate shell. Absolutely beautiful. The Apple was my favourite - white chocolate shell, mousse, diced apple and on a bed of house-made granola/crumble. These desserts will definitely be Insta-famous in the near future.

Medah Kitchen is serving up some very tasty, very photogenic and very diverse dishes. They are situated in a strip of very popular restaurants, but I implore you to stop in and visit as their food is absolutely delicious. I will definitely be going back to try their tapas menu and order more of the gorgeous desserts!

Thanks for having us, guys :)
