Danish Nosh, Caulfield

@food.fiend.melbourne

Danish Nosh in Caulfield has recently been taken over by new owners who are super passionate about baking and bringing the best quality products to their customers. Yaniv, one of the owners, makes everything by hand and you can tell, when talking to him, that he loves what he does. Michael, one of the front of house staff, was an absolute superstar during our visit. He was super attentive and a joy to talk to. I had a cute afternoon tea date with @suziescribbles while we were both on school holidays. We ordered two lattes and tried a selection of their sweet and savoury pastries including the following: • Apple puff pastry • Poppy seed Danish • Apricot Danish • Spinach and Feta puff pastry • Potato puff pastry • Pizza puff scroll • Chocolate Rugelach • Vanilla slice • Home made bagels stuffed with pastrami and smoked salmon

The stand out pastries for me were definitely the chocolate rugelach and the vanilla slice. The rugelach looked like a mini croissant that had a toffee chocolate folded through it and they were amazing! They were bite sized and I could have eaten a dozen of them. The vanilla slice has a lovely rich custard and flaky pastry. I ate this last and was sad that I didn’t have more room in my belly to finish it off haha.

The bagels are made on site, by hand, every morning and can be made to order with a range of stuffings. Suzie took ours home and said they tasted very nice.

Danish Nosh is an absolutely beautiful bakery. They do catering and sell pastries on site and if the word gets out, they are going to be very popular very soon. They want the public to know that the shop is under new management and they are working to spice up the menu and bring back old customers as well as inviting new people to try their goodies. Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon, team ☺
