I was invited to visit Darling Street Espresso this week, so took my mum on a cute little brunch date in Moonee Ponds. The venue is located on a corner, all on it’s own, with a gorgeous indoor area and intimate courtyard out the back.
Mum and I ordered a dish each, coffees, a juice and a smoothie. Mum ordered the activated charcoal smoothie and the presentation alone was awesome – it was pitch black, topped with raspberries and shaved coconut and Mum said that it tasted just as good. I had an OJ, which complimented my meal perfectly.

I ordered the donut balls, which came served with chocolate soil, Nutella fondue, berry compote, freeze dried fruits, strawberry and blueberry puree, fairy floss and fresh fruits. There was a lot going on in this dish and while each of the flavours were tasty on their own, it was VERY sweet and the donuts were a bit dry. I think either having cream or mascarpone could have made the dish a bit more palatable. It looked incredible though! #doitforthegram

Mum had the Salmon confit dish, which looked incredible. It was lovely and moist and the eggs were poached to perfection. She said it was one the of the best potato rostis she’d had – it was creamy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. She added kewpie mayo to her dish and said it was excellent.

We loved our visit to Darling Street Espresso. The staff were very attentive, the presentation and flavour of the dishes was excellent and we enjoyed the courtyard atmosphere out the back. If you live in the area, absolutely make sure to visit for your next brunch date :)
